Daily Advent Readings and Resources
For Advent 2015, we encourage you as individuals and families to take advantage of Good News of Great Joy by John Piper. What I love most about this little book is that its goal is to aid us in adoring Jesus and pursuing the joy that is found in him. “The joy that Jesus came to bring is from outside this world. It is the very joy that Jesus himself has in God the Father—which he has had from all eternity and will have forever” (p. 8). Also, take a look at this article by Desiring God, "Seven Reasons to Celebrate Advent."
Good News of Great Joy is designed with readings beginning Monday, December 1, and going through Christmas Day. This book of Advent devotionals aims to put Jesus at the center of your holiday season.
If you're up for something a bit less user-friendly, but still full of rich devotional meditations, check out On the Incarnation by Athanasius of Alexandria (c. 298-373). C. S. Lewis said, "When I first opened De Incarnatione I soon discovered by a very simple test that I was reading a masterpiece, for only a master mind could have written so deeply on such a subject with such classical simplicity."
